Meet Sandra
Director of Operations in Burundi
Mama Georgette's third child, who, like her mother, miraculously survived the brutal ethnic cleansing of 1998 in Central Africa. Sandra holds a teaching degree and boasts two decades of retail experience. She is also a proud mother of two adult children.
Journey of Love, Family, and Gratitude
In 2007, Sandra embarked on a journey to support her mother's mission in Burundi by caring for the children at Georgette's Home Day Care. Little did she know how deeply she'd fall in love with the children and their stories of resilience. It wasn't until 2020, after witnessing the country's suffering firsthand, that her dream of working alongside her mother finally came true. The singing of the children, nourished through the food program, touched her heart.
In 2022, when Sandra officially joined the team, her guiding question became, "How can I express my gratitude to God for preserving my family through the genocide we survived three decades ago?" This profound desire to give thanks to God has fueled her strength and determination in the face of the challenges of life and service in Burundi.
Sandra added, “Please pray that God would give me more strength. This is a BIG job that I am trying to do. My uncle, who was a priest for over 80 years, charged me: ‘It is now time to forget your own life and to give your life as a gift to others.’ I feel so blessed to be able to work with my mother as an agent of Christ’s reconciliation to the wonderful people of Burundi.”
